What does the Disaster Recovery and Preparedness Service do?

This service provides specialist legal advice, assistance and social work support to people who have been affected by natural disasters generally and, in particular, the February 2022 rain and flood event.

We can assist with problems directly connected to the natural disaster, such as problems with insurance companies or accessing government grants, but can also assist with a wide range of ‘flow on’ legal issues such as consumer credit problems, employment law problems and family law problems.

If your problem arose from the 2022 rain and flood event, our normal financial eligibility criteria will not apply and we may be able to assist you with some problems that we do not usually provide advice on (e.g. neighborhood disputes and body corporate matters).

To see if we can help you with your specific legal problem and to find out if you are eligible for the Disaster Recovery and Preparedness Service please read our eligibility guidelines.
