Assists clients to engage with our legal services and to address social issues connected to their legal problem

Who It Helps

  • Clients receiving legal assistance who have few or no other supports
  • Clients who are in unsafe situations (eg: due to domestic and family violence, elder abuse, coercive controlling behaviours, threats of harm by others or to themselves)
  • Clients with urgent or multiple social support needs
  • Case workers or other service providers wanting guidance or to make a referral

What We Provide

  • Short-term social supports including counselling, referrals and advocacy to access community agencies and resources
  • Risk assessment and safety planning
  • Court support
  • Case management and planning for complex situations
  • A multidisciplinary practice model that adapts how lawyers and social support workers collaborate to what each client wants and needs
  • Promote self-determination, protection of human rights and alleviation of hardship
  • Consultation on system reforms

Operates with all legal services provided by Caxton

Social workers, community workers and First Nations workers

Is not a crisis or out-of-hours response service
