Provides legal assistance to people and small business owners who are experiencing financial abuse, credit and debt problems, scams and consumer issues.

Who It Helps

  • People experiencing financial stress who don’t have the resources, support or safety to deal with the issue without assistance
  • Financial/economic abuse or coercion
  • Credit and loans including maxed out credit cards, repossession of car, house or essential items, unaffordable or multiple small loans, unfair credit report
  • Debt collection, SPER debts, bankruptcy, small business debts
  • Consumer issues for essential items, consumer finance problems, lemon cars, junk insurance and warranties, funeral products
  • Community groups
  • Greater Brisbane Region

  • Information line about financial rights
  • Information sessions for community groups and First Nations communities about financial rights
  • Legal advice about options and next steps to take
  • First Nations staff available to assist
  • Legal representation during negotiations, dispute resolution, tribunal and court proceedings (where resources permit)
  • Financial counsellor available to assist
  • Consultation on legal and system reforms
  • Self-help resources
