Caxton receives fund for pilot services to support sexual violence victims-survivors

Caxton Community Legal Centre has been awarded funding to deliver a new specialist legal service for victim-survivors of sexual violence across Queensland.

The Australian Government has recently announced fresh funding to rollout pilot services in NSW and QLD aimed to support victims and survivors of sexual violence in their engagement with the justice system.

“This will enable Caxton to provide free, independent, trauma-informed legal advice and justice system navigation, helping victim-survivors make informed decisions and access justice without further harm,” Caxton Legal Practice Director, Klaire Coles said.

“Sexual violence is significantly under-reported, and many people face complex and unsafe justice pathways when seeking support,” she explained.

Caxton will be working with YFS Legal, Youth Advocacy Centre (YAC) and the Aboriginal Family Legal Services Queensland in delivering the pilot services.
