Volunteering At Its Best

Caxton Legal Centre again relied on the invaluable and generous contribution of its loyal volunteers and their incredible commitment to social justice during this last financial year. Without our 160+ volunteer lawyers and law students, we would not have been able to make a difference to the lives of thousands of people who contacted us for help.

Our volunteers and pro bono partners provided an extraordinary 10 062 hours of assistance at a value of 1.4 million dollars (costed at Legal Aid Queensland rates, so really, it’s a lot more!).

A survey conducted in the second half of 2022 showed that 95% of our volunteers felt like their contribution had an impact and 98% felt it was valued and acknowledged by Caxton.

Volunteering anywhere provides a great opportunity to meet new people in the profession, gain confidence and new skills, and make a significant difference to the way people who experience financial and other disadvantage realise their human rights.

To ensure our volunteer program is healthy and effective, we hold free CPD training events throughout the year as well as social engagement opportunities. We look forward to our annual volunteer nibbles and drinks in February 2023 and will send out a date claimer soon.
