The Queen Street Mall will buzz with energy on Tuesday 15 June in a day of free events aimed at bringing joy to older Brisbane residents while also providing resources and information on the topic of elder abuse.
Performers will include French-Balkan musical group Mzaza and The Kitty Kats, an all female trio. Drag queen Candy Surprise will also treat the audience to several rounds of bingo.
Community organisations Caxton Legal Centre, Council on the Ageing and the Elder Abuse Prevention Unit have joined with Brisbane City Council to host the event which falls on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, with sponsorship provided by the Queensland Government.
“Caxton is excited to partner with like-minded services to offer a day of entertainment for seniors. We hope that anyone coming along also leaves a bit wiser about elder abuse and where to seek help if they’re concerned,” said Cybele Koning, CEO of Caxton Legal Centre.
The event will take place from 11am – 2:30pm on the main stage in the Queen Street Mall. RSVPs are not required. For more information contact Caxton Legal Centre on (07) 3214 6333.
