Caxton Legal Centre’s Queensland Coronial Legal Service has provided assistance to over 59 families since its commencement twelve months ago.

The service has acted in two inquests so far this year with three more inquests set down for later in the year. Lawyers from the service have recently been invited to speak to officers in the Queensland Police Service coronial unit and staff of the Queensland Coroners Court to discuss how to better support bereaved families through the coronial process.

Caxton has received a steady flow of referrals to the Coronial Legal Service at all stages of the coronial process including funeral assistance, during the coronial investigation, at inquest and after findings have been made.

Anyone seeking legal advice in relation to coronial proceedings should contact Caxton Legal Centre on (07) 3214 6333.
