Caxton Legal Centre staff will set their alarms early to take part in the Queensland Legal Walk at 7am on the 14th of May 2019.
The walk is a fundraiser for LawRight, a community legal centre which improves the lives of people who are vulnerable by providing access to justice – including those who experience homelessness or mental health concerns, are refugees, self-represented litigants or those who need civil law representation.
Caxton staff are aiming to raise $100 each in order to help LawRight meet its goal of raising $150, 000. Fundraising efforts will help LawRight continue to assist vulnerable individuals and remove the barriers to justice that reinforce poverty and exclusion.
“Caxton staff witness the barriers that stop people from being able to fully utilise their rights under law on a daily basis. It’s inspiring to see that, in addition to the good work they do as community legal centre staff, they are dedicated to raising funds for our sector more broadly,” said Peter Lyons, Caxton Legal Centre Chief Executive Officer.
