Venetia is a lawyer in Caxton’s Human Rights and Civil Law Practice, working predominately in the Queensland Retirement Village and Park Advice Service (QRVPAS).  Prior to working with Caxton, she was a volunteer for many years.

Venetia has over a decade of civil and criminal law experience in various jurisdictions, in private practice, state and Commonwealth government and academia.

Most recently she was a Senior Prosecutor with the Queensland Work Place Health and Safety Prosecutor, a Legal Officer with the Australian Law Reform Commission, and has been a sessional academic at several universities (including University of Sydney and Queensland University of Technology), teaching across a variety of subjects (including criminal law, evidence law and commercial law).

Venetia was associate to three judges, in the Queensland District Court and the Federal Court of Australia, has appeared in the New South Wales Supreme Court and instructed in several trials across jurisdictions.

Venetia is an empathetic lawyer who enjoys empowering clients to better understand their rights, and finding practical solutions.  She is passionate about improving access to justice through human-centered problem solving and systems design. She leads our community legal education sessions for the QRVPAS team, and enjoys making use of a former (and short-lived) career with the Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble.

Venetia was admitted in 2015, and has practiced in NSW, Qld and London.

In her spare time, Venetia enjoys rock climbing, cooking, maintaining her veggie garden and reading fiction.
